It’s an easy-to-make treat that pairs beautifully with a cup of tea or coffee, making it an ideal choice for afternoon gatherings or a sweet ending to a meal. Whether you’re sharing it with family or enjoying it by yourself, this classic dessert is sure to become a cherished recipe in your home.
Ingredients
- 1 cup semoule fine
- 2 cups lait entier
- 1/2 cup sucre
- 3 œufs
- 1/2 cup raisins secs
- 1 sachet levure chimique
- 1/4 cup beurre, fondu
- Pinch of salt
- Teaspoon of vanilla
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of semoule fine and 2 cups of lait entier. Stir well to ensure all grains are immersed. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes to allow the semolina to swell.
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
- After resting, add 1/2 cup of sucre, 3 beaten œufs, 1/2 cup of raisins secs, 1 sachet of levure chimique, and 1/4 cup of melted beurre to the semolina mixture. Mix until just combined; be careful not to over-mix (some traces of semolina should still be visible).
- Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round baking pan. Gently tap the pan to eliminate air bubbles.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
