Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal post-baking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add 1/2 cup melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix until combined.
  4. Stir in 1 cup granulated sugar, followed by 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Beat everything together until the mixture is smooth and well-combined, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 cup cocoa powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet banana mixture. Stir gently until just combined.
  7. Pour in 1/2 cup milk and stir until just combined. If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them in at this point.
  8. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  9. In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the brownie batter, then dot the top with small pieces of 1 tablespoon butter.
