Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 cup water
- 6 large flour tortillas (10-inch size)
- 6 small tostada shells
- 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Cooking spray or olive oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Cook the beef until it’s browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Add the taco seasoning and 1 cup of water to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove the skillet from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
- Gather all your ingredients for assembly: tortillas, tostada shells, nacho cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.
- Lay out a large flour tortilla on a clean surface.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons of nacho cheese sauce in the center of the tortilla, leaving about 2 inches of space around the edges.
- Add a generous scoop of the seasoned beef mixture on top of the cheese.
- Place a small tostada shell directly on top of the beef.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons of sour cream over the tostada shell.
- Add a handful of shredded lettuce, followed by diced tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Fold the edges of the tortilla towards the center, creating pleats as you go, until the filling is completely covered.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray or olive oil.
- Place the folded Crunchwrap seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Flip the Crunchwrap over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the Crunchwrap from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Repeat the cooking process with the remaining Crunchwraps.
- Cut the Crunchwraps in half for easier eating or serve them whole.
- Drizzle additional nacho cheese or hot sauce on top before serving, if desired.
- Pair with tortilla chips and salsa or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Enjoy your homemade Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme with friends or family!
Notes
- Customize your Crunchwrap with additional toppings like jalapeños, guacamole, or black beans.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils, and use plant-based cheese and sour cream.
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Ensure to fold the tortilla tightly to prevent any filling from spilling out during cooking.
