  • Author: shareylady
  • Total Time: 18 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

Experience the perfect blend of creamy cheese and spicy jalapeños in this delightful twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a quick and satisfying treat that will impress your taste buds!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Sourdough or hearty white bread (or your favorite type like whole wheat or gluten-free)
  • 4 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh jalapeños (or pickled jalapeños for a milder flavor)
  • Unsalted butter (or coconut oil/dairy-free butter substitute for a dairy-free option)
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Onion powder (optional)
  • Paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing your fresh jalapeños in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds if you want to tone down the heat. Chop them finely and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and the chopped jalapeños. Mix until well combined. If you want more flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder and onion powder.
  3. Take two slices of your chosen bread. Spread a generous amount of the cheese and jalapeño mixture on one slice. Top it with another slice of bread to complete the sandwich.
  4. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the outside of both slices of bread to ensure a golden crust.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melty. You can press down gently with a spatula to help it brown evenly.
  6. Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Slice it in half and enjoy while it's warm and gooey!
