Ingredients
- Store-bought pizza dough or homemade bread dough
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Unsalted butter
- Fresh minced garlic
- Fresh parsley or Italian seasoning
- Optional add-ins: cooked spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, olives
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out your bread dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about ½ inch thick.
- In a small bowl, melt the butter and mix in minced garlic, parsley, and a pinch of salt. Add half of the grated Parmesan cheese to this mixture.
- Brush the garlic butter mixture onto the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese evenly over the top. You can add any optional ingredients you want at this stage.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide, then stack the strips on top of each other. Cut the stacked strips into squares.
- Place the stacked squares vertically in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Ensure they are snug, but not overly packed.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let the bread cool for a few minutes before serving.
