  • Author: Lily
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy the delightful combination of garlic and Parmesan in these easy-to-make Garlic Parmesan Mushrooms. Perfect as a side or appetizer, these tender mushrooms are sautéed to golden perfection and topped with melted cheese, making them a flavorful addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms using a damp paper towel. Remove the stems and slice the mushrooms in half or quarters, depending on their size.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the dried thyme, oregano, and red pepper flakes, toasting for about 1 minute.
  3. Add the mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden brown and tender. If they release too much moisture, increase the heat to help them caramelize.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms. Stir gently until the cheese melts and coats the mushrooms.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish.
  6. Enjoy the garlic Parmesan mushrooms warm as a side dish or appetizer. They pair well with grilled meats, pasta, or salads.

Notes

  • For added depth of flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine after cooking the mushrooms for a few minutes.
  • For a vegan version, substitute butter with olive oil or vegan butter and use nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan cheese.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet.
