Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Extra melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the well along with the melted butter and eggs. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle, approximately 12×18 inches.
  8. Brush the surface of the dough generously with melted butter.
  9. Evenly spread the garlic cheese filling over the buttered dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  10. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough into a tight log.
  11. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place each piece upright in a greased muffin tin, cut side up.
  12. Cover the muffin tin with a kitchen towel and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes.
  13. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  14. Brush the tops of the cruffins with more melted butter.
  15. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until puffed up and golden brown.
  16. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  17. Once slightly cooled, serve the cruffins warm and enjoy their cheesy, garlicky goodness!
