Description

This Tilapia with Roasted Red Pepper and Parmesan Sauce is a delightful dish that combines the mild, flaky texture of tilapia with a rich and creamy sauce bursting with flavor. The roasted red peppers add a subtle sweetness, while the Parmesan brings a nutty depth that perfectly complements the fish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Tilapia fillets
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Roasted red peppers
  • Heavy cream
  • Fresh minced garlic
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh herbs (basil or parsley)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tilapia fillets and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if necessary and reduce the heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
  4. Stir in the chopped roasted red peppers and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing them to warm through.
  5. Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Stir well and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it slightly thickens.
  6. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until it melts and the sauce is creamy. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash of chicken or vegetable broth to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, and fresh herbs as desired.
  8. Return the cooked tilapia to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the fish to coat it well. Let it cook together for an additional minute to meld the flavors.
  9. Plate the tilapia and top it with any remaining sauce. Garnish with fresh herbs for an added touch of color and flavor.

Keywords: This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of steamed vegetables, rice, or a light salad. Keep an eye on the cooking time for the tilapia, as it can overcook quickly. If you enjoy some heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce while it simmers for a spicy kick.
