  • Author: shareylady
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Mini Soft Pretzel Knots are the perfect combination of chewy and soft, with a golden-brown exterior that makes them irresistible. Enjoy them warm with your favorite dipping sauces for a delightful snack experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2/3 cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water with 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) of active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope (about 12 inches) and twist it into a knot. Tuck the ends under the knot for a neat finish.
  6. In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add 2/3 cup of baking soda. Be careful, as this will bubble up!
  7. Gently drop each pretzel knot into the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Brush the boiled pretzels with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Bake the pretzels for 12–15 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. These are best enjoyed warm!
